Empowering our youth to acquire technical skills is one way of ensuring that they can identify opportunities faster and showcase their remarkable talents in today’s competitive online job market.

The Jiinue Sasa Initiative led by H.E. the First Lady of Tharaka Nithi County Mrs. Margaret Muthomi held a mentorship drive at Mungoni Vocational Training Center in Karingani and Rubate Vocational Training Center in Magumoni.

The sessions included counseling, donation of laptops, sewing machines, and dignity kits to support students enrolled at the institutions.

During the drive, Mrs. Muthomi also encouraged all learners to dedicate themselves to hard work, which is essential for success.

Promoting Technical Skills in Tharaka Nithi County

Technical skills are essential for economic growth and self-reliance, providing individuals with direct opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship.

In recognition of this, the Tharaka Nithi County First Lady, HE. Margaret Muthomi, through her Jiinue Initiative today equipped Marimanti Vocational Training Centre with modern sewing machines, gave learners dignity kits and other essential items.

Later, she visited Kiaritha Secondary School, where she donated a water harvesting tank and sports equipment.

Promoting Healthcare in Tharaka Nithi Through Medical Camps

The County Government of Tharaka Nithi, through the Office of the First Lady Tharaka Nithi, continues to prioritize accessible and quality healthcare for its people. The Safaricom Foundation Medical Camp provided residents with essential health services, including eye and dental care, as well as screenings for communicable and non-communicable diseases, ensuring ongoing community wellness.

At Chuka Level 5 Hospital, mothers were celebrated with Mama Packs to support them through their antenatal and postnatal journeys.

Promoting Dignity among School Going Youth

Education is the most powerful weapon that anyone use to change the world and is the greatest equalizer in modern society.

The Jiinue Sasa Initiative, a program run by Tharaka Nithi County’s First Lady, H.E. Mrs. Margaret Muthomi donated dignity kits to students in Kiaritha Secondary School in Igambang’ombe Ward and Turima Hills Day Secondary School in Marimanti Ward.

The initiative focuses on empowering the women and young people towards economic, political and social transformation by improving their health, education and welfare.

Progressive solutions that safeguard the well-being of mother and child are at the heart of delivery of maternal child health service provision in Tharaka Nithi, where we are working actively to improve all aspects of health infrastructure.

Her Excellency the First Lady Mrs. Margaret Muthomi today hosted a team from m-Mama Kenya, seeking to implement a mobile application emergency referral transportation system for pregnant women and newborns in our County.

The First Lady of Tharaka Nithi County, H.E Mrs. Margaret Muthomi, inaugurated the Ajira Digital Programme TNC Chapter at the Kirumi ICT Centre, Ganga ward marking a significant milestone in the county’s efforts to empower youth through technology.

The colorful event was graced by several MCA’s led by the area legislator Hon. Lysbeth Gatiria, County executive led by Dr. Gichuyia Ntharaku M’Riara, CECM for Public Health, Medical Services & ICT as well as representatives from key Development partners including NACADA, Ajira Digital, National Chamber of Commerce, Eselle Group Foundation, Graceful Youth Recovery Centre and Nation Media Group.

Donation of Mosquito Nets to Fight Malaria

With the challenges in our times, the focus has changed from academics to skills. Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) centres provide opportunities for young people to develop valuable skills.

H.E Mrs. Margaret Muthomi County First Lady and Partners for Care visited Nguruki Vocational Training Centre, where they donated electrical sewing machines for design and dress making courses.

Later, H.E. visited Marimanti Level IV Hospital to issue mosquito nets, for the fight against malaria and kala-azar disease.

Strategic Partnership for Prevention of Drug Addiction

H.E. the First Lady of Tharaka-Nithi County Mrs. Margaret Muthomi held a meeting with partners, where she led consultations on youth empowerment, addiction prevention and the Recovery Last Mile Project.

This will ensure that youth in need of life skills training and entrepreneurship acquire access to skills and competencies required for dignified work and entrepreneurship. This project will offer an ecosystem of support infrastructure for managing alcohol and substance abuse.

Partners collaborating include NACADA, AJIIRA, Nation Media Group, NHIF, EABL and Africa Youth Leadership Forum.
